Growing up, I never thought I would get married. My parents divorced at a young age and my perception of marriage was always marred. Enter the love of my life and the feeling that it doesn't matter what other people do or how their marriages turn out. All that matters is that we want to make each other happy - every day for the rest of our lives.
This view was worth the hike

My name is Sara and my fiancé, Jason, proposed on January 4th, 2014. He started out by calling my mom and my dad while I was at the movies with my cousin. They were both happily surprised and gave him their blessing. He then bought a beautiful bouquet of roses, which his mom helped put in a vase and he went to the store to pick up the myriad of photos he had developed. He brought these, along with {two} bottles of Moscato (my favorite) to my place and hid them behind the couch.

My cousin and I got done at the movies and I headed back to meet Jason for dinner at one of our favorite hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese restaurants. He talked a lot during dinner, as if he was nervous, and I actually wondered if he was going to propose there! I looked at the pictures of food on the wall, with misspelled names like "Fran" and thought, "Yikes, I hope he doesn't propose here."

Fran

Dinner ended and nothing had happened (sigh of relief). We drove back to my place and he casually mentioned he thought it would be nice to develop all the pictures he had of us from his phone. I said that was a great idea and was excited to look through the last 2+ years. I sat down on the couch and began talking about all the great memories. The stack of pictures was big and I was taking my time, but I finally got to the last one:

Picture of the ring next to the actual ring
I looked at Jason and he stood up, then got down on one knee. I have no idea what he said, but when he stopped talking, I said, "YES!" He tells me that he said quite a lot, something along the lines of: he loves me and wants to spend the rest of his life with me, will I marry him? I heard none of that. My mind was reeling with excitement!

At this point, I've got the ring on my finger and I'm staring at it, oblivious to the fact that he is bringing out a huge bouquet of roses and the bucket of chilled Moscato. I finally look up and he's handing me a glass of Moscato to toast to us. We drink, we call our parents and friends and it starts to finally sink in that we are engaged.

I said YES!

Now we get to plan a wedding.
